Communications Officer- Sexual and Reproductive Health

Society for Family Health (SFH) seeks an experienced individual for the position of Communications Officer – Sexual and Reproductive Health to be based in Lusaka on a part-time basis. The Communications Officer coordinates and manages the day to day communication and advocacy activities of the EECO Project and long term strategy to develop and maintain sustainable relationships with key stakeholders. S/he is responsible for working with Management of the LNG-IUS component of the EECO project to design and implement communication and advocacy strategies. S/he is expected to be an excellent communicator as well as a leading advocate of Family Planning.

EECO (Family Planning) Specific Roles:

    • Collection of site data and compilation of project reports to PSI
    • Provide guidance in capacity building, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation to key governmental and non-governmental partners and
  • Responsible for overseeing quality control and improvement of health services within the family planning component of the project;
  • Make regular project supervision and monitoring visits, ascertain progress, identify delays and problems if any and provide recommendations for alternative solutions;
  • Monitor work plan and budget performance of LNG-IUS;
  • Coordinate the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports for the family planning components.
  • Working closely with the Communications department on design and production of IEC materials
  • Monitor product stock levels and action new orders accordingly
  • Coordinate regular meetings and quarterly visits.
  •  Liaise with technical partners (MOH and others, Donor) and;

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Social Work, Marketing, or Communication.
  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine, Nursing or related field;
  • Membership with the Health Professions Council of Zambia or General Nursing Council of Zambia.
  • A strong background in maternal and child health, family planning and reproductive health programming.
  • Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC) trained provider
  • Proven experience in coaching/mentoring on IUDs/IUS insertions
  • Prior experience with SFH preferred
  • Significant experience in programmatic of donor-funded projects
  • Work experience with USAID funded programs desired and;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in an NGO position.
