The successful candidates will be responsible for the provision of male circumcision in Mazabuka. The provider will work closely with the Project Director, Regional Manager and other staff. MCP will report directly to the Regional Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform MC surgical procedures in line with approved national guidelines.
    Conduct clinical assessments including consent form signing for pre/post operation to all clients who opt to undergo MC procedure at any given time in order to ensure that all eligible clients are fit for the procedure.
  • Offer ‘opt-out’ pre/post HIV counseling and testing to all eligible MC clients in order to ensure that 100% of clients undergo Testing and Counseling in absence of the counselor.
  • Conduct client’s reviews post-operatively in order to monitor the wound healing process as well as detect the potential Adverse Events (AEs) on time.
  • Work in collaboration with the Counselors in order to assist potential clients make informed decision about MC uptake.
  • Conduct behavior risky assessment on all clients who opt to undergo MC in order to ensure that the risky compensation threshold is reduced and post MC behavior is adhered to.
  • Screen and manage medical conditions including Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) that clients present with, hence impacting on the provision of quality MC services.
  • Respond on time to AE related cases that arise as a result of MCs in order to ensure quality of service and safety of clients.
  • Help the site leadership team plan and implement a sustainable supply chain management system so as to ensure that all supplies and consumables including equipment are in place at all times.
  • Maintain a proper data management system in order to ensure that client records are secured as well as confidentiality is upheld for client’s information.
  • Supervise the Hygiene Assistants in cleaning, waste disposal, and sterilization of equipment to ensure infection prevention standards are maintained according to national guidelines.
  • Prepare daily reports on status of work conducted in order to provide record of activities progression at the site.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine/ Nursing or equivalent.
  • Valid practicing licence from Health Professions Council or Nursing Council of Zambia
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in the medical field.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Proficient in conducting MCs.
  • Able to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft word and Excel.
  • Organization and planning skills.
