BCP is a leading African forest carbon company. We are working with Community and Government partners to help conserve over 1 million hectares of globally significant wildlife habitats, and to benefit over 220,000 people. BCP is recruiting for SOURCING OFFICERS x 3 for our following sites: Chinyunyu, Nyimba and Mfuwe. This position reports to the Sector Manager. The SO is responsible for assisting of the recruiting of additional Chiefdoms into LCFP and getting them to VCS and CCB verification.

PRIORITIES THAT WE’LL TRUST YOU WITH.

  • Promoting effective protection and management of the REDD+ Zones in identified Chiefdoms, through;
    • Supporting the CRBs along with their respective Patrons to secure legal rights to the REDD+ Zones through the Zambian legal process
    • Supporting and building capacity of the CRBs to implement their forest management plan and Chiefdom Conservation Plans
    • Supporting and building capacity of the CRBs to function as an accountable transparent community institution including facilitation of periodic review meetings
    • Supporting REDD+ Zone monitoring including responding to breaches and encroachments, biodiversity monitoring, using BCP tools and trackers.
    • Supporting the CRBs with developing and implementing Fire Management Plans towards achieving zero late season fires
    • Supporting the CRBs with control of illegal activities including planning, conduct and reporting of law enforcement activities and patrols.
  • Actualizing the BCP’s ‘Beyond Subsistence Livelihood Strategy’ by;
    • Supporting the CRBs to generate Community livelihood projects in accordance with BCP project principles, selection process to successful outcome.
    • Ensuring maximization of community benefits in terms of coverage (numbers of households) and values (increasing revenues)

ALLIANCE BUILDERS WANTED.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Fluency in written and spoken English Language is required
  • Strong people skills with good communication capacity in written and spoken English as well as local languages
  • Passionate about community development and conservation approaches
  • Self-motivated results orientation and performance driven with good planning and time management skills. Willing to work within a team and lead by example
  • Adaptability including willingness to use a motorbike when required
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and the use of GPS and android devices
  • Experience of community based natural resource management principles and approaches with Conservation /Community Engagement experience.
  • A good understanding of Free, Prior, Informed, Consent a big plus
  • Valid Zambian driving license – (minimum for motorbike)
