POSITION TITLE: STRATEGIC FINANCIAL ANALYST

REPORTS TO (TITLE): SUPERVISOR FINANCE

II. JOB SUMMARY:

Analyze & interpret financial and statistical data relating to past performance. Prepare monthly, quarterly & yearly financial performance variance explanation. Prepare report pertaining to financial matters to internal users & external organizations. Collects pertinent statistical & financial data, analyze & interprets such data in a manner useful for management decision making. Prepare productivity and efficiency indicator parameters for financial analysis and to be used by top-management. Collect and compile financial data to be used to produce various reports of the department and for financial analysis purpose

III. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determines Cost per ATK, Yield per ATK & Passenger expense per RPK by division and equipment to be used for Financial Analysis.
  • Compares statistical & traffic data of S2-11 against actual statistical report to check the accuracy of operating statistical data & validate the statistical reports.
  • Performs monthly variance explanation (Actual Versus Actual Estimate) & prepare explanations for major variances.
  • Prepares comparative analysis of Passenger and Ground handling expense by location and month & provide justification for major variances.
  • Prepares Comparative analysis of revenues and expense by location and by month & provide justification for the major variance.
  • Provides comparative analysis of operating expense by function and by account on monthly basis & explanation of the major variances.
  • Compiles financial data required for updating Ground Rule and Aircraft Evaluation Parameters.
  • Compiles RPK data by location and month for use to passenger expense accrual.
  • Compiles operating statistics for the purpose of accrual (cost estimation) by financial accounting.
  • Produces quarterly foreign currency & expenditure report to National Bank of Ethiopia.
  • Prepares ICAO reports with respect to form EF- and EF-1.
  • Provides financial information to Internal & external organizations.
  • Prepares comparative operating expense by account, location & cost center to determine major variances.
  • Identifies prior month & prior period charges, reversals & other adjustments by account and location to be used for performance explanation.
  • Determines yield for ex-baggage and mail and revenue by operation type, division, equipment and location.
  • Reclassifies late-coming passenger revenue by their respective months for the purpose of updating & evaluation of passenger yield analysis.
  • Compiles data required for the preparation of weekly P&L report.
  • Collects financial data required for financial analysis and summarize in a report form.
  • Determines Average fuel price by location and by month and make trend and comparative analysis.
  • Develops and maintain financial, statistical and traffic data bank.
  • Collects data, monitor and update fuel price and uplift.
  • Adheres consistently to the airline safety and security policy and procedures through identification and mitigation of operational hazards and related safety & security risks and implements all precautionary actions / measures / processes; conduct work activity safety planning before work begins, during the actual work as conditions change, debriefing and hand over activities at the end of the work and shifting to other work when emergent work is encountered; make safety a priority and participate in safety briefings and meetings and take part in implementing safety initiatives, regularly perform safety inspections of work activities, facilities, equipment and vehicles and immediately quit and report to supervisors/co-workers/concerned safety office if unanticipated hazardous or unsafe conditions are encountered.
  • As Zambia Airways Brand Ambassador, you are responsible to promote and adhere to the Brand Guidelines.
  • Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.

IV. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of BA/BSC Degree or equivalent in Accounting/Accounting & Finance/ Accounting Information System or related field of studies with a Minimum of 5 years of experience in Airways or related areas
