Brilliance Executive Management Consultancy Limited (BEMCONSULT) has been engaged by Joint Country Programme (JCP) to assist in the identification and recruitment of qualified and competent professionals in the NGO sector. These positions will be based at the Country Office in Lusaka & the provincial office in Luapula (Mansa).

Organization Background

The Joint Country Programme (JCP) is a duo of organizations consisting of Dan Church Aid (DCA) and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), and was created in 2011 for purposes of working together within the ACT Alliance to:

  • create synergy and positive sustainable development in the lives of the poor and marginalized people in the target communities of Zambia, but also to
  • reduce costs and increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Purpose

The Prevention and Advocacy Officer will provide technical direction to the program and will oversee the development and execution of NCA’s approaches in the EU Prevent! S&GBV Project. Also responsible for documentation of stories of change and sharing of best practices. Will work with Advisors in the dissemination of IEC/SBCC materials in collaboration with BBC Media Action and Childline Zambia. Write and distribute content to promote an organization’s brand, activities, or products.

Summary of Key Responsibilities;

  • Provide guidance and on-going support and technical assistance on the design, implementation, and monitoring of all program areas for Prevention and Advocacy To identify and establish high-quality preventive programmes.
  • Planning and implementation of awareness-raising activities for various programme work and/or campaigns Coordination and mobilization of partners and relevant stakeholders in influencing public policy and government interventions as needed in various programmatic work
  • Build strategic alliances with other key actors internally and externally to advocate for gender-sensitive programming
  • Facilitating coordination between Gender Task Force focal points and related departments in order to ensure tangible progress on implementation of gender policies and mainstreaming strategies Support the planning and implementation of trainings of prevention activities for co-applicants.
  • Support formation of strong GBV survivor networks for youth, men, and women and document best practices on economic strengthening activities as well as the impact on using men as agents of change in stamping out GBV.
  • Develop content and supervise the production process of the Project IEC materials.
  • Lead in identifying, packaging and pitching stories and public issues to put on digital platforms.
  • Liaising with media through BBC Media Action, and identifying interventions to capacitate them as champions against SGBV.
  • Liaise with Lifeline (Childline on Advocacy issues and promotion of their Toll-free lines
  • Represent the organization at key events for the advancement and strengthening of our core work with a focus on SGBV

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent in Communications Skills
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent Media Relations Skills

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Development Studies while Communications; Journalism; Public Relations or related field will be an added advantage
  • At least a minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a similar environment
  • At least a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Gender-related work, and GBV in Advocacy programmes/initiatives
  • Advocacy working knowledge in the NGO sector
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
