Technologist – Maintenance (RO) (BOZ4) (1 POST)
Job Purpose
To supervise the mechanical and painting works on Bank property to ensure that the works are done efficiently and effectively for safety and conducive physical working environment
Main Accountabilities
- Draw up maintenance schedules for mechanic equipment and building to ensure sound planned and preventive maintenance
- Respond to emergencies promptly to efficiently and effectively assign required resources (materials, equipment, staffing) to achieve optimal allocation of scarce resources and achieve continuity of Bank operations
- Conduct periodic physical inspecting of Bank facilities to ascertain their condition and conform to applicable technical standards
- Maintain an accurate record of requests and complaints to achieve optimal allocation of resources
- Review work orders and emergency calls during and outside working hours to determine priority of project and assign appropriate employees to each project
- Schedule and monitor projects related to repair. Preventive and special maintenance and remodelling at Bank buildings; to ensure preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule and to ensure compliance with instructions and plans
- Visit product sites and review work orders to determine materials and time required so that competent staff are assigned appropriate and adequate resources
- Maintain an inventory of standard repair and maintenance materials and chop tools to ensure that the appropriate tools and sufficient materials are available at all times
- Report timely to supervisor on progress of maintenance and repair projects and cost estimates to facilitate management decisions
- Contact contractors for required works and review work of contractor to ensure specifications are met
- Prepare rough sketches of projects as required, read plans and/or prints of Bank buildings to determine locations of subsystems or areas requiring special maintenance or repair. To ensure that contractors and maintenance staff know the scope of works and for management information and decision making
- Maintain an accurate record of all equipment and material to ensure optimal allocation.
Qualifications
- Technologist Diploma – Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 3 years’ relevant experience.
- Grade 12 School Certificate with five (5) ‘0’ Levels (Creditor better)

Conditions of service
Bank of Zambia Conditions of Service will apply. Please note that all the positions are on Fixed Term Contract of Employment for three (3) years and renewable subject to good performance.
