The African Business School (TABS) is looking for an experienced Video Editor to teach/train its team to assemble recorded footage into a finished product that matches the organization’s vision and is suitable for broadcasting. The successful applicant should be able to bring sight and sound together in order to tell a cohesive story.

Deliverables and term: This is a part-time assignment that requires the successful applicant to work with / train the in-house team to create / edit / produce good quality videos. The term is not time-bound but based on transferring video editing skills required to the team to make decent quality videos.

The engagement may involve some sessions over a period of approximately 3 months.

Responsibilities include:

Teaching/training the team to:

  • Choose tools / equipment required
  • Manipulate and edit film pieces
  • Take a brief to grasp the production team’s needs and specifications
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and the industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.
  • Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film
  • Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
  • Create rough and final cuts

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience as Video Editor with digital technology and editing on software packages
  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills
  • Ability to select/recommend appropriate video editing tools and equipment
  • Able and willing to transfer skills
