Job Description

POSITION: TYRE FITTER/ALIGNER (2) : FULL TIME

Purpose of Position

Provide a platform of work exposure in Tyre fitting, battery fitting, services and alignment workmanship that ensures customer safety and improved the customer’s driving experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observe all safety rules on machinery and conduct while in the workshop.
  • Offer high personalized customer service, competent fitting, balancing and alignment workmanship.
  • Check and ensure that tyres on the invoice and the works to be done are correct for the vehicle
  • Always adheres to the correct tyre fitting procedure as specified by the company.
  • Consistently use job cards and maintain a log of what was worked on a particular vehicle and keep a periodical tally of the number of tyres fitted.
  • Performs wheel alignment in accordance with laid down procedures depending on the kind of alignment and aligner machine being used.
  • Monitor and review quality of service (timeliness, value-adding and up-selling) and ‘certify’ work completion.
  • Exhibit professional maturity, integrity and a dynamic personal sense of responsibility.
  • Fitting Batteries: verifies battery type and size is right for the vehicle, prepares battery (inspection, acid filling, marking) and correctly, tightly fits the vehicle without damaging vehicle systems through modifications
  • Fabrication on exhaust systems if offered and to be performed by trained personnel
  • Check wear and tear on old tyres, pressure, remaining millimetres on old tyres and offer advice to the customer.
  • Report any faults on the machines immediately to the supervisor
  • Report any tools that are missing to the workshop supervisor and Branch manager.

Qualifications and skills

  1. Grade 12 Certificate
  2. Minimum Craft Certificate in a mechanical discipline or Automotive mechanics
  3. Member of the EIZ or relevant institute
  4. Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience in a similar role
  5. Three (3) or more months of practical training will be an added advantage.
  6. Good interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
