Today, World Vision Zambia provides support to approximately 120,000 registered children in child sponsorship within the 40 ADPs that are multi-sectoral in nature and impact more than two million people countrywide in areas of health, education, livelihood security and HIV and AIDS support.

Supply Chain Management Advisor

Purpose

To establish a strategic direction for the Supply Chain Management function within World Vision Zambia to meet WV Global standard with the responsibility for organizing, leading, contributing, implementing and facilitating supply chain management program within World Vision Zambia that will have the greatest impact on process improvement, simplification and standardization.

Responsibilities
Build National Supply Chain Management function

  • Lead and coordinate Supply Chain Department and be responsible for an optimal interface within the supply chain and business units to the purchasing function
  • Drive Purchasing Process Improvements through elimination of variation and waste, focusing on continuous process improvement. Help implement standard business practices across all purchasing locations in WV Zambia. Develop and implement operating procedures to ensure consistent workflow and adherence to WV policies
  • Direct and coach SCM Manager, Officers and Assistants and monitor their performance and capability development
  • Promote integration and standardization of Supply Chain Management activities across World Vision Zambia
  • Design detailed purchasing process flows and roles & responsibilities and owners for each purchasing step. Set overall direction for WV Zambia SCM team; advise on team functions and performance
  • Drive training and communication of Zambia Supply Chain Management and strategic sourcing manuals
  • Communicate benefits of joint working across National Office and ADPs and ensure reporting lines to national office are adhered to
  • Successful implementation of Global/Regional SCM standards
  • Provide reports and updates to the SAR SCM director as required

Performance Measurement and Management

  • Lead co-ordination and reporting of performance metrics with executive management team and developing a framework to capture these. Metrics would include internal Supply Chain Management, supplier performance and benefits tracking
  • Attend SAR/global SCM meetings remotely and face to face as per regional plan

Supply Chain Management Planning

  • Lead annual and quarterly Supply Chain Management planning meetings
  • Direct development of consolidated procurement plan for World Vision Zambia

Strategic Sourcing

  • Lead development of category strategies and approaches
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers
  • Lead negotiations for large/strategic contracts
  • Manage consistent and effective strategic sourcing process
  • Communicate sourcing approaches to relevant stakeholders
  • Direct content for key supplier contracts, including terms and conditions to mitigate risk for World Vision Zambia
  • Monitor supplier compliance to delivery requirements

Transactional buying

  • Secure effective Supply Chain Management process for non-critical items
  • Identify areas for process improvements
  • Communicate processes to key stakeholders

Cross Functional

  • Manage interactions and relationship with Operations, Finance and other departments to facilitate improvements in knowledge sharing and communication.

Education

  • University or similar degree in Business Administration, Social Science, or Supply Chain Management, Procurement, advance degree preferred.
  • Professional qualification a must, preferably MCIPS/CILT qualified

Experience

  • At least 10-15 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management
  • At least 7-10 years’ experience in a management position
  • Deep specialist skills in procurement
  • International Supply Chain Management experience preferable

Special knowledge and qualifications

  • Supply chain management experience
  • Purchasing know-how and mastery in 7-Step Sourcing Process
  • Highly experienced in negotiation strategies and tactics
  • Supplier Management experience
  • Technical awareness of Supply Chain Management technologies and their application
  • Ability to explain complex supply chain concepts in simple terms to a diverse client team (senior executives and Supply Chain Management professionals)

General knowledge and qualifications

  • Strong communication skills with suppliers and internal customers
  • Able to strongly represent the National Office with internal and external Clients and other major stakeholders
  • Ability to articulate, discuss and present plans, performance improvement ideas and sourcing strategies at executive level
  • Ability to drive strong networking with suppliers
  • Excellent program management skills
  • Experience facilitating workshops and running training sessions
  • Strong innovation focused and open for unconventional business ideas
  • Act as a leader and be able to develop team members skills
  • Christian commitment and maturity or respect for Christian ethos in the workplace.
