COMMUNITY BASED NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT FIELD OFFICER

Duty Post: Sesheke.

The Role:

Under the supervision and direction of the Project Coordinator.  He/ She will have delegated duties for coordination of field activities and organization of meetings and workshops and will provide the Project Manager with routine reports on field activities mandated by the project.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Undertake delegated responsibility in implementing project activities related to facilitation of CBNRM specifically community forest management, wildlife management, climate change adaptation, natural resource-based enterprise development and conservation education;
  • Facilitate appropriate linkages with specialized government departments for field activities related to CBNRM, Sustainable forest management, Forest-based enterprises and Climate Change Adaptation;
  • Engage the Community Resource Boards and Village Action Groups and plan and facilitate CBNRM community meetings, training workshops and visits for sensitization purposes on human-wildlife conflicts, forest use, fire management and other natural resources linked behaviour;
  • Contribute to the development and strengthening of Alternative Livelihoods and Human Wildlife Conflict Mitigation under different projects in the Silowana Complex;

Required Qualifications,

  • Degree or Diploma in the field of Nature Conservation, Water Resources Management, Fisheries, Biology, Forestry, Sustainable Agriculture, or Environmental management.
  • At least 2 years of practical experience of community work, working with CBO, community development, project cycle management, and Community-Based Natural Resource Management;
  • Experience in participatory and multi-stakeholder processes;
  • Familiarity with key Zambian natural resource management policy, legislation and government departments is an added advantage;
  • Valid driver’s licence with three year’s driving experience
