To effectively carry out this work, ZCEA is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to take up a vacant project management portfolio. The candidate must have at least 5 years minimum experience in managing projects and should be well versed in all project management functions. Knowledge of the Child Rights Framework, advocacy strategies, techniques and tools, critical thinking and excellent writing skills are essential.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Project Design: Ability and experience in defining and determining project’s goal, outcomes, objectives and strategies.
- Project Planning: ability and experience in creating project plans’ scope and schedules clearly outlining anticipated milestones.
- Project Implementation: Prepare timely, activity concepts and materials that would lead to prudent and effective implementation of project activities to ensure achievement of outcomes and objectives as per project plans.
- Controlling and Compliance: Proactively identify risks and devise and propose mitigation measures that are in compliance with ZCEA’s policies and procedures and as well as cooperating partners’ requirements.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Prepare a comprehensive project M & E plan that both speaks to project objectives, outcomes, outputs and indicators, and clearly outlines the contributions to the organizational strategic plan’s goals and outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum first degree in economics/ business studies/ development studies.
- At least 5 years of managing an advocacy project in an NGO essential.
- Previous experience of children’s rights advocacy an added advantage.
- Demonstrable facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of government structures and processes essential.
- Knowledge of the business sector’s landscape in Zambia an added advantage.
Additional Requirements and Competencies
- Knowledge of advocacy strategies, techniques and tools
- Coordination skills
- Must be self-motivated and constantly seeking self-advancement
- Must have strong, demonstrable analytical skills
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate and manage a broad range of stakeholders including children.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Must have excellent IT skills (e.g. MS Office, online research, etc.); ability to learn new tools is an asset
- Must have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload
- Honesty and integrity is not an option
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Drivers licence for manual vehicles would be an added advantage
