The Public Service Commission invites applications from suitably qualified serving officers to fillvacant positions of Assistant Director – Communications Department and Regional Waterways Engineer – Maritime and Inland Waterways Department in the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
- JOB TITLE : ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
POSITION : 1 VACANCY
SALARY SCALE : (L)
STATION : HEADQUARTERS
DEPARTMENT : COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Director – Communications and shall be responsible for:
(a) Co-ordinatingthe development and review of legislation, policies, standards and guidelines on ICT in order to guide and promote the growth of the ICT sector;
(b) Co-ordinating the development, maintenance and upgrading of Public ICT Infrastructure in order to facilitate communication and service delivery;
(c) Co-ordinating the development and implementation of E-Governance programmes to enhance provision of Service;
(d) Effectively managing the provisions of technical support in the development of ICT infrastructure in the Public Service in order to enhance the utilization of ICTs;
(e) Co-ordinating the development and implementation of IEC programmes in order to promote and increase the utilization of ICTs in Zambia;
(f) Co-ordinating the monitoring and implementation of international agreements on ICTs in order to meet regional and international obligations;
(g) Co-ordinating the promotion of research on ICTs in order to facilitate the uptake of appropriate technologies by the Zambian market;
(h) Co-ordinating the development of work plans and implementation of performance management in the department; and
(i) Co-ordinating the utilization of human, financial and other resources in the Department in order to facilitate attainment of objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must have the following requisite qualifications:-
(i) A Full Grade Twelve (12)/Form 5 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) ‘O’ Level Credits including English language and Mathematics;
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics/Telecommunications Engineering or its equivalent;
(iii) Membership to EIZ andother relevant Professional Bodies; and
(iv) 8 years relevant work experience of which 3 shouldbe at Senior Management level.
- JOB TITLE : REGIONAL WATERWAYS ENGINEER
POSITION : 1 VACANCY
SALARY SCALE : (K)
STATION : HEADQUARTERS
DEPARTMENT : MARITIME AND INLAND WATERWAYS
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Assistant Director –Infrastructure and Inland Waterways and shall be responsible for:
(a) Co-ordinating the dredging and maintenance of inland waterways and terminal facilities to facilitate ease and safe movement of vessels;
(b) Effectively managing staff, operations and other resources in order to promote efficient performance of the department;
(c) Managing the design and development of canals and waterways in order to facilitate access by water transport to outlying areas; and
(d) Undertaking research and development in order to facilitate the improvement of inland waterways facilitates.
QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must have the following requisite qualifications:-
(i) A Full Grade Twelve (12)/Form 5 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) ‘O’ Level Credits including English language and Mathematics;
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or its equivalent;
(iii) Membership to EIZ and other relevant Professional Bodies; and
(iv) 6 years relevant work experience of which 3 should be at Senior Management level.
