Zambia Health Education and Communication Trust Recruiting: Board Members


Zambia Health Education and Communications Trust (ZHECT) is an indigenous, not for profit organization founded for the purpose of developing and implementing multi-faceted HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health programs under the umbrella of Prevention. ZHECT does this through information dissemination, education, capacity building, treatment, research and advocacy.

ZHECT has been in operation since April 2002 and currently targets Priority, Key and Vulnerable populations as well as Migrant labour and Discordant couples. ZHECT is dedicated to providing high quality health services, behaviour change interventions and capacity building for the improvement of the health status and general wellness of people in Zambia.
ZHECT is seeking to appoint 8 new committed, experienced and multiskilled Board Members who will ensure that the organization is well governed for a tenure of three (3) years as stipulated in the ZHECT constitution.

The Board Members will be volunteers who will be expected to attend all Board meetings as well as participate in the life of the organization between board meetings.

Board Member Roles and Responsibilities

It is expected that the different candidates will bring a range of skills and experiences to ZHECT.

General

  • Commitment to the objectives of Zambia Health Education and Communications Trust (ZHECT)
  • Willingness to act as an ambassador for ZHECT
  • Willingness to fulfil the duties and standard of conduct required of a board member of an organization
  • Understanding of HIV/AIDS Issues in Zambia especially
  • Understanding of equality and diverse issues

Experience

  • Experience in Organisational Development
  • Experience in lobbying policymakers and or/ businesses and or/ representative groups.
  • Experience in Finance
  • Experience and Innovative ideas in Marketing the Organization, Improving Organizational Visibility etc
  • Knowledge and Experience in Behaviour Change Communications
  • Resource Mobilisation (e.g. from individuals, partnerships with business and/or civil society and donor organizations)
  • Board level experience, ideally from a similar organization

  • Understanding and analyzing financial reports

  • Management/project management
  • Ability to operate as part of a team
