The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) is an ICT Regulatory body responsible for regulating the ICT Sector in Zambia. It falls under the Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications and derives its mandate from the three Acts, the Postal Services Act No. 22 of 2009, Electronic Communications and Transactions Act No. 21 and the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) Act No. 15 of 2009 to regulate ICTs, postal and courier services in Zambia. As conferred in the ICT Act, ZICTA also referred to as “The Authority”.

Job Title: Technologist – Spectrum Monitoring and Compliance

Responsibilities

  • Carry out repair and maintenance works to ensure continuous normal operation of all Monitoring sites
  • Participates in Interference resolution exercises, Spectrum Monitoring and Inspections to ensure compliance
  • Performs routine repair and maintenance of all Monitoring Sites
  • Submits monthly Equipment inventory for all Monitoring sites
  • Cleans all Portable Measuring equipment and client stations every day
  • Submits a list of Measuring Equipment that are due for re-calibration every year
  • Ensures that all Monitoring sites have Log books
  • Prepares detailed Technical reports on repair and maintenance of monitoring sites
  • Conducts spectrum monitoring in accordance with approved domestic and International (ITU) monitoring procedures
  • Conducts Automatic Violation Detection using Automated Spectrum Monitoring system to ensure compliance and clean frequency assignment database
  • Conducts physical inspection on all radio installations to ensure compliance to technical standards as stipulated in the licence conditions
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work and as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electronics or Electrical or other related field
  • Two years in telecommunications sector or industry
  • Ability to repair and maintain Automated Spectrum Monitoring systems
  • Ability to undertake troubleshooting on the existing Automated Monitoring System
  • Ability to prepare Maintenance Schedules and Inventory
