Job Description

Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency is the largest pharmaceutical and medical distributor in Zambia. It contributes to the pharmaceutical composition of health care provision in Zambia through: –

  • Procurement of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies
  • Warehousing of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies
  • Distribution of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to all districts and public sector hospitals
  • Monitoring of usage trends and analyzing of logistics information
  • Maintaining existing and establishing new relationships with stakeholders and partners in order to develop supply chain services in line with existing and future needs
  • Providing services to customers professionally

In order to enhance our services, we are seeking to employ for the following position:

MECHANICAL ARTISAN

Grade: ZAMMSA 7

Main Job Purpose

To be responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance and repair of all ZAMMSA machinery and equipment except for motor vehicles.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Planning and Work plans

  •  Participates in the preparation of work plans.

2. Machinery and Equipment Management

  • Identify defects/faults of mechanical nature and compile a report(s) on the obtaining status of all ZAMMSA machinery and equipment.
  • Identifies and reports the required spare parts for use in respect of maintenance and repairs

3. Repairs and Maintenance of Machinery and Equipment

  • Undertakes mechanical repairs of all ZAMMSA machinery and equipment.
  • Makes recommendations for machinery and equipment with mechanical problems to be repaired outside the ZAMMSA
  • Undertakes preventive maintenance service of ZAMMSA machinery and equipment
  • Makes users take the responsibility of reporting faults on their machines and equipment.

4. Policy Development and Reporting

  • Participates in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures on the repair and maintenance of ZAMMSA machinery and equipment to improve ZAMMSA’s overall performance and service
  • Participates in the assessments of the disposal of ZAMMSA machines and equipment to reduce repair costs.

  • Good customer service skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience
