JOB OPPORTUNITY

Zambia Open Community Schools (ZOCS) exists to enable the OVC in Zambia, especially the girl child and children with special educational needs, to access quality education. ZOCS hopes to achieve this through Advocacy, Capacity Building and support to community schools through Service Delivery, mainstreaming the cross-cutting issues of gender, HIV and AIDS and disability, as well as learning-based monitoring and evaluation of its interventions. ZOCS seeks to recruit a qualified candidate who is motivated and result oriented to fill the following position:

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (1) – LUSAKA

REPORTS TO – HUMAN RESOURCES & ADMIN MANAGER

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this Position is to build and maintain an updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology on the organization’s business sustainability.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support to all departments at ZOCS’ main offices
  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.).
  • Lead the development and improvement of the effectiveness of the database tools and services.
  • Check computer hardware (HDD, mouse, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality
  • Ensure that all essential information of the organization is protected and backed-up
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
  • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Computer Science, engineering or relevant field
  • Certification as IT Technician will be an added advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, etc)

Skills/Experience

  • Proven experience as an IT Technician
  • Hands on experience in database development and management
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar Position
  • Knowledge of database management
