Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the Digital Banking Division under the Sales Department at Head Office:-
HEAD MERCHANT SALES (X1)
JOB PURPOSE
To lead the Digital Banking Merchant sales unit to grow and maintain an active portfolio of Merchants fulfilling the Digital Banking ecosystem development.
Under the supervision of the Head Digital Sales, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:-
- To develop and drive the Digital Banking Merchant acquisition strategy execution.
- Implementing a robust Merchant distribution network.
- Implementing the nationwide merchant acquisition framework as per strategic goal.
- Constantly scanning the market to acquire Merchants.
- Alignment of Merchant strategy to technology trends and provide competitive response.
- Identifying and taking ownership of generating Merchant sales opportunities through various events and marketing efforts.
- Owning and delivering the Digital Banking Merchant strategy as well as working closely with other businesses within Zanaco.
- Delivering increased digital sales on the merchant platform.
- Grow revenue in line with KPIs.
- Build a culture of continuous improvement in sales development.
- Seeks opportunities to integrate, simplify and streamline activity through involvement of teams in the geographic and functional matrix.
- Works in a facilitative manner to build capability in progressing objectives whilst ensuring profitability and productivity outcomes.
- Monitoring post acquisition engagement level with merchants.

Monitoring the service level efficiency of merchants.
- Conduct a needs analysis to identify customer needs effectively when opening new accounts or giving product advice, in line with the Banking and Financial Services Act.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACT
- External: Local Regulators.
- Internal: All Divisions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects.

Degree in a relevant field or professional qualification from a recognised university.

At least five (5) years experience in banking with three (3) years at management level.

Proven years of experience in merchant acquisition or similar role at senior level.

Good knowledge of general banking practices and procedures and good understanding of the principles and practices of business economics and the current business economic environment.

Good current knowledge of different industry sectors, financial investment options and electronic banking options for lead generation purposes.

Good knowledge of financial spreadsheet applications (e.g. Excel) to capture and analyse financial data.

Sound understanding of current taxation laws as they apply to the portfolio of customers.

Good knowledge of technical portfolio management systems.
