INTERNAL AUDITOR

Job Purpose

Responsible for the administration of the Internal Audit Department so that:

  • Audit work fulfills the specific and general purposes and responsibilities approved by the Board.
  • Internal audit resources are efficiently and effectively employed.
  • Audit work conforms to the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. Risk management and corporate governance programs, processes and activities are facilitated.

Key responsibilities

  • Develops policies and procedures to guide the work of Internal Audit Unit.
  • Establishes and maintains a quality assurance program to evaluate internal audit operations and performance of the college.
  • Facilitates risk management assessment for the college and proposes interventions
  • Develops internal audit plans, the conduct of internal audits and issuance of internal audit reports.
  • Calls to the attention of the Board any deviation in implementing an approved policy or decision of the Board or Chief Executive Officer.
  • Provides quality assurance in developing and implementing new systems and procedures.
  • Assesses compliance with established standards of business ethics and the procedures for reporting violations or probable violations of College policies.
  • Timely reports all potential conflicts of interest that come to his/her attention to theAudit Committee of the Board.
  • Develops audit objectives, plans, and scope consistent with the Unit’s charter Schedules audits, determining the resources that are necessary, and seeing that the approved audit plan is accomplished to the extent resources allow.
  • Communicates with those who need to know about audits and interfacing with staffthroughout the College, particularly those being audited, to resolve audit issues and achieve the desired corrective actions.
  • Oversees all internal audit activities including internal audit budget control.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience required for this Role

  • ACCA, CIMA or Bachelor’s degree in a business related field such as Accounts orBusiness Administration. Must be Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and should be member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and of Zambia Institute Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
  • Minimum of five years of practical experience in internal auditing at managerial level.
