Zimbabwe Revenue Authority: Database Administrator
The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, or ZIMRA, is the body responsible for collecting taxes in Zimbabwe. Applications are invited from suitable and qualified candidates to fill the following positions that have arisen within the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA):
Job Title:Database Administrator- Level 9
Responsibilities:
- Install, update and upgrade database management system
- Prepare and configure database environment for application installation
- Participate in application modelling walk-throughs to review entity relationship diagrams and process diagrams for conformance to standards and completeness of requirements
- Recommend database management systems and hardware platforms to be used in system implementations
- Assign and control names used for the various portions of database cluding transaction codes, elements, tables, records, schema and schema
- Ensure adequate security safeguards are in place to control access to databases
- Allocate disk space for new data tables and monitor space utilisation for existing data tables
- Create and maintain documentation of database errors and solution to help resolve future problems
- Prepare periodic reports on the status of all database systems and database usage
- Perform workload analysis and memory management on database and application systems
- Monitor performance and update parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users
- Implement and manage Oracle tools and technology including but not limited to ASM, FRA, Flashback database and RMAN
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required database schemas are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
- Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
- Any other functions as assigned by Systems Development Manager
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- BSc in Computer Science/BSC Information Systems and Management or equivalent
- Oracle OCA/OCP certified
- Knowledge of SAP is a distinct advantage
- At least three (3) years working experience in database administration
Other Attributes:
- Self-starter with ability to work under pressure and long hours
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Fluency in English and working knowledge of Shona and Ndebele
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Unquestionable integrity
- Self-motivated
