Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) Job Recruitment: Research Manager
Following the rollout of the Curriculum Review process by the Ministry of primary and Secondary Education, the assessment process has also changed taking into account the changes that have come on board. This has necessitated realignment of some of the examinations processes which require more professionals to be taken on board.
Applications are, therefore, invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill in the following vacancies that have arisen within Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC):
Research Manager – Technical Subjects
This is a Middle Management position. The incumbent will report to the Assistant Director (Test Development, Research and Evaluation) and and assessment of ZIMSEC’s operation will be responsible for research, quality control, evaluations.
Job Specifications
The Research Manager will be expected to discharge the following duties:
Conduct research in the areas of educational assessment to improve the quality, relevance, appropriateness and practicability of examinations.
Ensure the adherence to the International standards of assessment through bench marking with Regional and International Examination Boards.
Design and implement assessment oriented research projects.
Analyse assessment data using correct psychometric and statistical techniques in the relevant subjects.
Produce reports for both action and applied research projects in the assessment of the relevant subjects.
Carry out comparability studies between ZIMSEC and other reputable examination boards.
Evaluate all ZIMSEC programmes.
Conduct pre-tests so as to recommend suitable assessment items for the cohort of subjects under the Manager’s jurisdiction at various levels examined by ZIMSEC.
Write research report.
Requirements
Professional and Person Specifications
The incumbent should possess the following:
A Master’s Degree with experience in Educational Research.
Must have at least 5 years experience in using both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Have been a ZIMSEC Examiner at leadership level.
Have the ability to lead a team of experienced Research Officers.
Be computer literate with good and demonstrable understanding of software packages inclusive of
SPSS, Microsoft packages, conquest and other used in the area of educational measurement.
The incumbent should be innovative, require minimal supervision and can work beyond normal working hours when called upon to do so.
